From quality certification to the enhancement of a symbolic material, the collaboration between IMQ and Spazio 3R was born from the meeting of shared stories, skills, and values. A project that transforms a thread from the past into a mark of identity for the future—an example of sustainability and shared value in action.

A 75-Year History Meets New Hands

IMQ is now one of the leading certification bodies at an international level. For 75 years, it has ensured that products, organizations, and systems meet clear standards of safety, quality, and sustainability, with a fundamental objective: contributing to a safer and more reliable world.

Among the products certified by IMQ for many years were electrical cables, distinguished by a very thin internal thread woven in green, white, and red. A small detail, often invisible, yet deeply meaningful. As technology evolved, this thread was no longer necessary—but removing it entirely would have meant losing a piece of the company’s history. “Our meeting with Spazio 3R was decisive. In the skilled hands of your team, that thread became an elegant embroidery of the IMQ logo, transforming from unused material into a symbol of identity, capable of telling our story in a new way,” explain Roberta Gramatica, Head of Communication, and Claudia Bracchi, HR Manager at IMQ.

Sustainability as a Shared Value

For IMQ, sustainability is a long-term choice and an integral part of its identity. It means not only environmental attention, but also genuine responsibility toward people and the market—ensuring that innovation and progress are always accompanied by safety and trust.

The project developed together reflects this vision. The tricolor thread, used since 1951, was recovered and reinterpreted by the seamstresses of Spazio 3R, becoming the distinctive element of a welcome kit designed for new employees. It is more than an object; it is a bridge between past and future. As the label accompanying the kit states: “Now this thread connects you too, as you become part of the IMQ family: a thread that binds us, from 1951 to the future.”

A Collaboration that Creates Value

In this collaboration, IMQ recognized deeply shared values: reliability, transparency, ethics, and professionalism. The choice to combine craftsmanship, social inclusion, and material recovery was not only symbolic but aligned with a shared vision. “The product created with Spazio 3R perfectly tells this story,” Roberta and Claudia comment. “Sustainability is expressed through the conscious choice of materials and especially through the recovery and enhancement of our distinctive thread, transformed from waste into an element of identity, value, and memory for the new generations joining the company.”

When businesses and local organizations meet around solid principles, something is created that goes beyond the final product. A project emerges that embodies identity, reliability, transparency, ethics, and professionalism.“It was this set of shared values that convinced us to undertake a project capable of uniting craftsmanship, social inclusion, and material recovery in an authentic and concrete way—giving life to a collaboration that tells much more than the story of a product,” they conclude.

Collaborations like this demonstrate that sustainability can be tangible, measurable, and at the same time rich in meaning. This is how value is built: together.
