Some people come to tailoring through fabrics, while others are looking for another place to develop their passion for hands-on work. Elise is one of them: her journey begins with drawing and takes shape, day by day, among threads, needles, and new creative possibilities.…
From Drawing to Tailoring: Searching for Her Own Path...

Elise is 20 years old. She is a quiet and reserved young woman, but also very kind and sensitive. She came to Spazio 3R to attend the tailoring course organized in collaboration with Galdus as part of the GOL program.
She has always had a strong inclination toward drawing, a passion that has accompanied her since childhood and led her to attend an art high school. Later, she felt the need to challenge herself with something new, while still staying connected to creativity and craftsmanship.
«I’ve always drawn ever since I was little [...] after leaving my studies, I decided to try tailoring in order to challenge myself in another hands-on profession».
After the training period, she was offered an internship in our workshops, becoming part of a path that is still taking shape but is already rich with insights and possible directions.
A Welcoming Environment Where She Can Experiment and Grow...
From her very first days, Elise found the workshop to be a place where she felt comfortable: «I get along very well with the team; they are all helpful and friendly. The workshop environment is very welcoming, and I felt comfortable after only a few day».
During the internship, she had the opportunity to approach tailoring in a practical way, experimenting with new techniques and beginning to build her first work experience.
This journey is not limited to technical learning; it has also become an opportunity to share the experience she is living with friends and loved ones.
The Personification of Spazio 3R...
The thread that ties together Elise’s entire journey is creativity, which finds expression in both drawing and tailoring. She still does not have a clear vision of her future, but: «I am certain that I want to continue in a creative field [...], for example, I have thought about becoming an illustrator, but I would also like to continue with tailoring».

During the internship, this vision also took shape in a personal project: creating a representation of Spazio 3R.
Elise explains that the idea came to her almost by chance: «The projects I create come spontaneously, with almost no process behind them». The drawing personifies tailoring as a mythological figure, portraying it as an art of precision. «The pose recalls the gesture of an archer drawing the string of her bow, but here the bow becomes a representation of a sewing machine», explains Elise. The needle and thread are tools that make it possible to join and shape fabric through tension and control.
The colors are not accidental either: the skin reflects the magenta of the Spazio 3R logo, purple symbolizes knowledge, and the turquoise of the skirt evokes elegance and lightness. Green represents growth, while the orange of the thread spools recalls creativity and energy.
Elise’s perspective combines imagination and precision: two qualities that she found in the Spazio 3R workshops, places where she could challenge herself, gain skills, and feel increasingly capable of creating with her own hands.
