This month brought two valuable opportunities to connect with students from some of Milan's leading fashion institutions: the IED Master's Program in Fashion Design – Circular Practices for the Fashion System and Domus Academy's Master of Arts in Fashion: Design, Arts and Technology through its Conscious Clothing Design course. These encounters brought Spazio 3R together with the future voices of fashion for thoughtful conversations about sustainability and the role it can play in shaping the industry...

Welcoming IED Students to Our Workshop...

Spiegazione di Spazio 3R ai ragazzi in visita.

On a March morning, we welcomed a group of international students to our workshop along the Naviglio Pavese. The visit began with a tour of the space, where we introduced the machines and digital tools used in our daily activities before sharing the story behind Spazio 3R and the work we do.

The visit provided an opportunity to talk about our journey and our holistic approach to sustainability. Throughout the discussion, one idea stood out clearly: sustainability is not only environmental. Social and cultural sustainability are equally important. Respecting workers' rights and caring for every person involved throughout the production chain are essential parts of creating a truly sustainable fashion industry.

Another meaningful topic centered on fashion's role as a form of communication and even a political statement. The clothes we choose to wear, and the decisions made by those who aspire to work in fashion, can become conscious acts that bring creativity and responsibility together.

A Conversation at Domus Academy: Why Repair Matters...

Presentazione presso Domus Academy.

During our session with students in Camilla Carrara's Conscious Clothing Design course at Domus Academy, the conversation focused on the importance of repair.

We are accustomed to repairing our phones and household appliances, but rarely our clothing. Why does replacing a garment often feel more natural than mending it?

This question has become increasingly important in European policy discussions, where efforts are focused on extending the lifespan of garments through repair, reuse, and recycling as part of broader sustainability goals for 2030.

From there, we shared the work we carry out every day at Spazio 3R to raise awareness within the community and among younger generations. Through upcycling courses, repair workshops, and educational programs for schools and businesses, we aim to make these ideas practical and accessible.

The meeting concluded with students sharing their own aspirations and future projects. It was inspiring to hear how they hope to make sustainability a concrete part of their careers by bringing together traditional craftsmanship, artisanal knowledge, and innovation.

These conversations remind us how valuable it is to engage with younger generations, especially those who dream of building a future in fashion. We hope they carry these ideas forward and transform them into meaningful action, helping to make sustainability not just an ideal, but a reality, creating a future that is more just, inclusive, and conscious for everyone.
